I Am Such A Bonehead

I am a bit frustrated with myself. I have received several emails asking to be included in any action taken to push for accountability of the courts. Unfortunately, the way I made the page did not forward your email addresses to me. I apologize, and ask that you resubmit your email address via the form if you would like to be added to the list.

I will use those addresses only for the purpose of a mailing list dealing specifically with this issue and will not share them with anyone.

thank you,

To Serve and To Protect

I guess the title is a little misleading.

I am not referring to a police department here, but to a few different groups of people that are supposed to protect children.

The first group is the parents. In this case the mother and step-father of Kelsey Briggs. One of the greatest jobs and responsibilities a person can have is to be a parent. Raye Dawn Porter has been a parent, FAILED, and is now to begin again. Even if she didn't hurt that poor baby, she failed, as the baby's mother, to protect Kelsey. She should not be allowed to have another chance with a baby until the case is thoroughly investigated and she proves she can protect the baby. The SOB that killed the baby deserves to be in a cell with Bubba, and have a few of his own ribs and legs broken.

Lance Briggs certainly depended on these same groups. In order for him to be able to concentrate on his own safety, and the lives of his fellow soldiers, it was imperative that he felt confident about the safety and comfort of his family. The United States Serviceman who served in Iraq came home to tragedy. If I understand correctly, the baby had been dead for less than 24 hours when he arrived home from Iraq.

I spent many years in the service, and I know how terribly hard it can be to go away, especially when you are worried about your children's safety. My heart goes out to you, Lance Briggs. I am so thankful for the sacrifices you have made in your service to the country. I am INCREDIBLY sorry for your loss.

I have been following this story at Lost in Lima blog, and it seems that a great number of others have picked up on the story. I had already mentioned the failure of the courts and the Department of Youth and Family Services in DOING THEIR JOB.

I know from personal experience that they are unable to keep up with all of the cases, and in many cases the kids get hurt. The best recommendation I can make is a little bit of legislation. Perhaps something like "The Courts Should Know the History of the Case, and Should Make a Ruling, or be Subject to Prosecution for Dereliction of Duty." Anyone interested in getting involved? Contact me. At least this case has received coverage from the Main Stream Media. (Here too.)

Grass Roots Activism

It seems that every time a child is murdered, abducted, or missing, a new law gets named in memory of the child.

Why not start a grass roots program to get some of these laws passed BEFORE another child is hurt.

I have a couple of bills in mind, and a few allies in the local political scene. I could always use help, though. If you are interested in getting involved, contact me. (Contact form is above, left.)

At the moment, I want to look into some sort of bill to prevent custody courts from making rulings that endanger children, simply because they have failed to prepare for the case. (This one is personal to me as well.)

I would love to see if anyone else is interested in getting involved, and I would LOVE to hear from someone else who has been through the process.

A Thanksgiving Day Amber Alert was canceled when a man with a history of violence brought his 7-month-old daughter to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Emily was returned safety about 2 p.m. -- 18 hours after she was taken -- and reunited with her mother. Brown was arrested.

"Abraham loves his daughter, he really does, and all he was trying to do was see her," Brown's fiancée, Quandra Williams, said.

Emily's mother, Elizabeth Jackson, obtained an injunction earlier this year barring Brown from coming near her residence or his daughter.

Brown said he had not seen his daughter for four months and was desperate to see her.

"I love my daughter and you know I would do anything in the world for her," Brown said as he was walked to jail in handcuffs. "And I'm going to see her, no matter what."

I am so glad she is okay. I feel bad for the man as well. I can't imagine not being able to see my kids. (I'm not advocating abduction, I just feel bad that he was that desparate to see her.)

A 25 year old man and his 24 year old cousin have been missing since the 20th of this month. Family members are worried, and feel the police should do more.

Click here for video on the case of Alexander and Edward Sauceda.

They were last heard from by a family member who says the two were getting ready to head home, back to the Sarasota area from Ybor city around 4:40 Sunday morning.

Along with the two cousins, investigators are also searching for the missing men's car, a black 2001, 4 door, Chevrolet impala with a Florida temporary tag.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the sheriff's office either in Sarasota or manatee county.

Jacksonville, Florida -- An Amber Alert has been issued regarding a missing child in Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are looking for 7-month-old Emily Brown. She is a black female, two feet tall, 17 pounds, black hair, brown eyes, who was last seen wearing a lime green sweat suit with a blue undershirt and is in danger.

Authorities say the child was abducted by 34-year-old Abraham Brown. Abraham is a black male, 6 feet tall, 260 pounds, black hair, brown eyes, who was last seen wearing a red sweat shirt. Abraham has a burn mark on his right arm.

They may be traveling in a small late 90’s red or burgandy vehicle, tag unknown.

If you have any information o n the whereabouts of Emily Brown, please contact the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500.

More information, as first reported on Yahoo news.

An Amber Alert was issued Thanksgiving morning for an 7-month-old girl believed to have been taken by her own father, who has a history of violence.

The infant's mother claims the child's father, Abraham Brown, 34, arrived at her Arlington apartment Wednesday night carrying a Bible and asking to see the baby. Before she could call police, she said Brown knocked down a glass door, took the baby, Emily, and drove off.

According to the mother, there is an injunction barring Brown from coming near the residence.

Police held a news conference Thursday to announced that Brown is wanted for interference of custody.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Brown has been arrested 19 times on numerous charges, including stalking, aggravated assault, drugs, robbery, burglary and traffic offenses.

"We've been chasing leads all night long, searching for Mr. Brown and the child," Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Assistant Chief Rick Graham said. "We're pleading to the public, to please, if anyone knows the address or the whereabouts of Mr. Brown and the child, to please give us a call and let's get this baby back home safely with the mother."

"This is not the first time he has taken her," Emily's mother, Elizabeth Jackson, said. "But wherever you are, please bring her somewhere safe ... please."

Anyone who sees the child or the father or has any knowledge of where they may be is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at (904) 630-0500 or the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Missing Children Clearinghouse at (888) FL MISSING.

An article providing insight into the mind of a molester is available at From Whispers to Roars. As I was reading it, I couldn't help but think that the world of Instant Messaging and Chat Rooms on the Internet would certainly aid this man in his pursuit of victims.

It seems that predators have learned to master the skills that so many advocate for parents: the ability to listen.

Summary: You may have met convicted sex offender Alan X. He didn't skulk behind bushes, instead he cultivated his victims amid their families, churches and, yes, Boy Scouts troops. This cunning sociopath manipulated and molested more than 1,000 boys by becoming their best friend. Here he turns a laser-sharp eye on himself.

Today over at MissingAbducted.com there are several success stories. Several people were found alive and well. That is always a great thing.

Another good piece of information there was a bit of a summary of an article dealing with media coverage of missing persons.

Finally, there was a link to another website with a great deal of great information. From Whispers to Roars has list after list of help for victims, resources for those with missing family members, and even state by state summaries of issues in the news. I have no idea how they keep up with all of it!

Anyway, the article "Media focus on white, wealthy in missing-children cases" described at MssingAbducted.com validated a few of the assumptions that I made, and also underscored the final analysis Seamus McGraw made. (See Is the Media Racist (Part 1))

For a missing child to attract widespread publicity and improve the odds of being found, it helps if the child is white, wealthy, cute and under 12.

Socioeconomics seems to play a role in it. If you have money, people seem to listen better. "Cute" gets more attention, as do younger, "more vulnerable", children, who are more often seen as victims of abduction than potential runaways.

"Middle-class white families have good social networks and are able to mobilize people better, making it a matter of communitywide attention. Minority parents may not see the media as a likely source of help"

Finally, it is much harder to gain media attention for missing children in major urban areas where much of America's minority population lives. City life is expected to have more exposure to these sort of crimes, making it less "newsworthy". Missing children get the most attention in rural areas and small towns, places where people think these kinds of things don't happen, places where media attention is easier to get, places where there is often a white majority.

The best solution for this problem seems to be a three pronged strategy:

  1. Educate minority and non-minority families with missing persons of the FREE resources on the internet and in the media to get the word out. Make sure they are using these resources.

  2. Make as much noise as possible when the media seems to be giving disproportionate coverage.

  3. Educate the general public about the differences in the way missing persons cases are handled, and let the consumer hold the media responsible. Nothing talks to media like their shareholders.

If you know of a case where the media is not providing the assistance that it should, please contact Voiceless Victims. We would like to help.

Natalee Holloway - Ever heard of her?
How about Tara Grinstead? Taylor Behl?

Okay, more questions. Who is Anquiaette Parker (aka Tweety)? How old is Cermen Toney Jr. (aka CJ) ? Who is Wallace Richards?

If you have Fox News or ever read a newspaper, I am sure you have heard of the first three. Yes, Natalee, Tara, and Taylor all fit a pattern of beautiful white women who fit the profile of "damsel in distress". Cermen Toney Jr., a four year old boy was being babysat by his cousin Anquiaette when they went missing Novemebr 6th. Did you see the story on Rita Cosby? How about the last few weeks of coverage on Nancy Grace? Me neither? I am not slighting those shows, I am just saying that the media in general, seems to be alienating a lot of people. Wallace Richards has been missing in California since the 10th of November, 2005.

I have long debated whether I truly believed the media was intentionally racist. I attributed the coverage to factors that were not racial, but possibly socioeconomic. (Reward Money being the key factor.) Seamus McGraw points out in the first of two articles he wrote recently at the CrimeLibrary reasons why he believes there is inequality of attention into coverage of non-white women.

Not long ago, in Philadelphia, another beautiful young woman went missing. Read on...

Many people in the world are oblivious to the hundreds of thousands of slaves that have fallen victim to predators world wide. One of the ways I stay aware of the statistics is through the iAbolish Anti-Slavery Network. As an American citizen, I take for granted so many things.

For some, every day is a nightmare. Imagine being a sexual slave, forced to have sex up to ten times a day, with strange men, just to "earn your way to freedom".

Imagine being a citizen in the country of Sudan, where the government actually supports the militia that rapes and kills every non-black and non-Muslim citizen of Darfur.

Even in the United States, there is slavery.

iAbolish is a project of the American Anti-Slavery Group (AASG), a 501c3 non-profit corporation. It is non-partisan and non-sectarian. Its members span the religious, ethnic, and political spectrum. With support that ranges across the political spectrum, the organization illustrates that slavery is not about Right and Left, but right and wrong.

As most people who have spent a lot of time in a classroom will tell you, the more you learn, the more you realize the less you know. huh?

Seriously, I try to be very cautious in what I say, because of the litigious nature of the world.

I read an article today on "Finding Information Online From Peers and Professionals". It has some good links, and some good information on precautions to take when seeking information online. (Registration Required-Try Bugmenot.com)

In the case of David Ludwig and Kara beth Borden, it looks like the polce were trying to use the cell phone tracking technique. (Otherwise, how would they have found the phones?)

"After the shootings, Ludwig left the house without Kara Borden, but she chased after him and got in his car, police said. They drove through Clay Twp., Lancaster County, where Ludwig said he threw out the couple's cell phones, which were found that day, police said."

I found a very neat site today related to psychology. One of the resources there I thought my readers might enjoy is a list of online psychology quizzes. Check them out!

My best friend, Jen, and I have been discussing the double murder case of Kara Beth Borden and David Ludwig for a few days. Jen offers some insight into how Kara Beth may think.

I asked her specifically how she thought a young girl could possibly go with a man who had just murdered her parents. J. said , very matter-of-fact, that she has seen "boy-crazy" girls who will put up with anything to be with the object of their obsessions. In her experience, working with teens, she has seen girls whose fantasies of happily ever after and true love become so important that nothing else matters.

In the case of these two, the allegations of a sexual relationship betwen the two offers even greater support for this theory. Although girls mature faster than boys, no fourteen year old child is able to handle the emotional effects of a sexual relationship. In addition, I have found that most children have not even developed the cognitive ability to reason through problems and see cause and effect relationships until the age of fifteen or sixteen. Couple these two factors together, and the results can be pretty disastrous. According to those close to the couple, Kara had grown increasingly isolated and withdrawn as she became more focused on David.

So when a child such as Kara is made to feel special by someone who she finds attractive, and he is able to at least temporarily represent this ideal, aggressive man, she may be unable resist the fantasies of love and marriage. This is apparently what happened, according to the statements they have made since David's arrest. He is no longer charged with kidnapping, and it has been published that the two planned to get married and establish a new life for themselves, away from Pennsylvania.

Ludwig told detectives that after the killings, he couldn't find Kara Borden. He said he started to drive away and saw her running down the road toward him.

She got in the car and said she wanted to "get as far away as possible, get married, and start a new life," Ludwig told detectives.

Kara Beth Borden is indeed a victim in this mess.

In the case of David, I have a few theories as well...

I found this info on Tozturk's Blog at Philly Future

Most Dangerous Cities With 500k or More in Population:

  1. Detroit, MI

  2. Baltimore, MD

  3. Washington, DC

  4. Memphis, TN

  5. Dallas, TX

  6. Philadelphia, PA

  7. Columbus, OH

  8. Nashville, TN

  9. Houston, TX

  10. Charlotte, NC

I have to be honest, it was no shock to see DC and Detroit at the top, but I had no idea Dallas and Houson would make the list.

The Overall Most Dangerous City in America is --- drumroll ---- Camden, New Jersey, for the second consecutive year, according to an annual survey released on Monday. The survey ranked the rates of serious crimes including murders, rapes and robberies in 369 U.S cities...

Camden, a city of 80,000 people near Philadelphia, was listed as the most dangerous, followed by Detroit, Michigan; St. Louis, Missouri; and Flint, Michigan, according to the Safest (and Most Dangerous) Cities survey by Morgan Quitno Press, a research and publishing company based in Kansas.

I don't have any other information, but apparently Harrison made it home safely.

Film reveals Ludwig 'night patrols', Court documents disclose plots to break into homes, kill family.

“David Ludwig and his friend called it ”night patrol.“Dressed in dark clothing, the two filmed themselves as they readied to break into a local home with assault rifles and other guns, according to a new court document.

Ludwig, who allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend Kara Borden’s parents in their Lititz home Sunday morning, and the friend then decided to continue their ”night patrol“ by going to the Borden home, according to the court document.

[Borden's] friend did tell police that he and Ludwig had taken guns and gone out on several occasions on ”night patrol,“ with ”plans of forcible entry,“ according to the court document.

Police discovered the film on one of Ludwig’s two laptop computers seized earlier this week. The film shows Ludwig and a friend, Samuel Peter Lohr, 19, of Lititz, engaged in ”night patrol.“ The film shows the two, dressed in dark clothing, ”entering a secured room within the Ludwig home. Once Ludwig and Lohr entered this secured room, they handled various firearms that included handguns, assault type rifles and a large assortment of ammunition for these weapons,“ the affidavit said.

I had discussed the story with a friend when the story first came out, and I told him that, based on the Christian statements on Kara Beth Borden's Blog, and those on David Ludwig's Blog, that the murder must have been committed for what David considered a ”righteous“ reason, such as rescuing Kara Beth from abuse.

There were certainly two sides to this guy.

As for all of the guns, I was raised to believe owning a firearm for hunting and protection is a right. I was raised that respecting a firearm, and knowing how to be safe with it was a responsibility. I was also taught that life was precious.

This boy, it would seem, never learned the last two of these lessons. I gave him the benefit of the doubt when I first read about him. Now I realize how wrong I was.

In a previous entry, I mentioned a St. Louis Area Regional Abduction Alert (SARAA) for 4-year-old Cerman Toney, Jr. and his 19-year-old cousin and babysitter Anquiaette Parker are missing. Authorities had stated they fear for the safety of the two, because someone had threatened Parker before the two disappeared.

Today, there is a picture of a “person of interest” in the case. This man was seen by a witness “wiping down the car”. I assume this means wiping off any prints? The car was found on November 8th, and we are JUST NOW hearing about it? (See Video)http://www.ksdk.com/videoplayer/player.aspx?aid=27102&bw=

It never ceases to amaze me that witnesses will wait for days and even weeks before telling the police when they witness situations and events that could possbly be related to violent crime. When the search for Natalee Holloway was on the second or third month, a guy came forward and said he saw someone dumping a nude body in the landfill. Well let's see moron, with two months worth of garbage piled on top, DO YOU THINK YOU COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE MORE HELPFUL?? It was strangely convenient, to me anyway, that the reward had been raised to a significant amount right around that same time.

I learned of this story from Lost In Lima, Ohio. I wanted to give a voice to this group of victims, for sure.

Michael Porter was arrested Thursday for the death of his two year old stepdaughter, Kelsey. The scumbag is accused of striking the little girl in the abdomen earlier in the week causing blunt force trauma and inflicting deadly wounds. Again, let me just mention that she was TWO years old.

The little girl was described as having significant bleeding in her intestines and bruising on her ribs, the front of her chest, side and back. Records indicate that she had bruises in other areas of her body and medical examiners believe she suffered from possible kneeing, punching or squeezing.

Kelsey Smith Briggs dies hours before her father was due to return from serving in Iraq.

The bond has been set for $1 million, after he plead not guilty in court Friday morning to charges that he killed the toddler, Kelsey Briggs. The judge in the case has issued a gag order for everyone in the case.

I guess those reading this would ask, “Why didn't anyone do anything to stop this?” The answer is quite complicated, and honestly, I believe the video clips will explain it best. I have been through a VERY similar situation before, when my ex-wife had custody of my children.

The father of this little angel, and her grandparents who tried to save her, must have such a hard time knowing the very institutions that are supposed to protect the child were negligent. (So many times a judge will rule in favor of the mother without having looked at the case. I have seen it first hand.)

I guess all we can do now is pray for justice, and, if asked, speak out to prevent it from happening again.

Recently, Steve Huff was interviewed by Rita Cosby on MSNBC. One of the things that was came up was the deeply spiritual statements made by David Ludwig, as well as statements made about him by members of his community, which did not line up with his actions.

The other day, when we were discussing the David Ludwig double murder and abduction case, I felt excited to find the blogs of David and Kara Beth. A little after that, I felt guilty. I mean, Kara Beth had just lost both of her parents. I knew that she also had four siblings who were going through a very traumatic time.

I knew that there would be cameras and reporters everywhere. I can't imagine dealing with that while burying my parents.

From an article I read today at LancasterOnline:

The Ludwig also said in their prepared statement, “Living inside the devastation of this unimaginably horrible week, no words can adequately express the sorrow, shock and senselessness of what we are all experiencing.”

In asking that the media respect their privacy, the Ludwigs’ statement requests that both families need to “privately process events which challenged everything about us.’’

”Please understand that rampant curiosity only hinders the good efforts of the authorities and those helping us sort the pieces of our shattered lives,’’ the statement continued.

Child Victims Suffer Doubly Under Public's Scrutiny

When 9-year-old Jennette Tamayo was kidnapped this month from her San Jose home, her life, like Elizabeth Smart's a year before, may have depended on all of us remembering her name and face. Now that both are miraculously back, however, they would be better off if we just forgot.

The unfortunate notoriety of these young crime victims may haunt them long after their tormentors are locked up and memories of the ordeal fade. In this way, they are poster children for the plight of juvenile crime victims, who often have to forfeit their privacy to gain protection and justice.

In the recent murder case of Taylor Behl and the subsequent arrest of murder suspect Ben 'Skulz' Fawley, the internet played a big role in catching the killer. The alleged murderer, Mr. Fawley, had left clues all over the internet regarding his obsession with fire, death, and decay. He even left pictures of the area where he had hidden Taylor's body in his DeviantArt Gallery. Let's just say that he should be nominated for a place of honor at DumbCriminals.com.

In an article put out to highlight safety on campus, VCU officials, Henry G. Rhone, vice provost for student affairs and enrollment services, said he called a meeting with several administrators to look at what could be done to help students with the dangers of using the Facebook or the MySpace Web sites. (Don't forget Xanga and LiveJournal!)

“The more personal information you put on there, the more vulnerable you are,” he said. Rhone said he and other administrators have talked of asking instructors to incorporate safe Internet usage into the VCU 101 course by taking time to teach students what to do when they are on the Internet.

“The Internet can be wonderful and helpful in many ways,” he said. “But unfortunately the person on the other end may not have the same intentions.”

A 17 year old young lady was abducted this morning by a known sex offender in Florida. (Around 7 a.m. the amber alert went out.) Praise God she is now safe!! Her abductor apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. I pray that she will be okay, as I am sure she has been through quite an ordeal mentally.

Dan Riehl's blog, Riehl World View, brought this poor girl to my attention. She has been diagnosed with a facial deformity associated with a disease called Polyostotic Fibrous Dysplasia that has not only deformed her face, but severely affected her respiratory system.

Marlie Casseus and the effects of Polyostotic Fibrous Dysplasia

I have seen this horrible disease on the Discovery Health Channel, and it is a horrible disease that kills children and adults by cutting off their oxygen.

If not for the kindness of American doctors who performed a tracheotomy and placed a feeding tube, she would be much worse than she is now. To be treated and to fully recover, she will need extensive surgeries and treatment. This will not only improve her appearance…it will save her life.

You can help by giving a donation towards her treatment, at the International Kids Fund.

The movie was hard to watch at times, because it does depict violence against women and children. But the fact of the matter is that those things really happen. The movie started out by explaining the motive for getting involved in Human Trafficking:

Selling Cocaine is a one-time business transaction. A certain amount of a drug sells once for $1000. A human, sold into sexual slavery, can be sold for $50 to $100:

  • 4 or 5 times a day

  • 7 days a week

  • 52 weeks a year

for up to five or ten years, until these women “earn” back the money to buy back their visas, their passports, and their other immigration documents. They are powerless without their documents, and they are raped and beaten into submission. Some are told that their families will be murdered if they don't cooperate, or that their children will be abducted and sold.

The businessmen that traffic these young women aren't two-bit street thugs, they are often MBA graduates and professional businessmen. This trade is becoming THE illicit business to be in.

The disasters in Indonesia, India, Pakistan, and EVEN in New Orleans, have given easy access to vulnerable children. Others have been tricked into slavery through promises of international travel, modeling, marriage, and even sold by their own family for food money in areas of extreme poverty.

Children and young adults are grabbed out of the Mall of America, from the streets in Mexico City, and from beaches in Aruba. Apparently, Natalee Holloway's mother, Beth Twitty, may believe her daughter is alive and imprisoned in just such a situation.

Dan does a good job of monitoring the latest going's on in Aruba and in Alabama. He's not hyping it up like some, he tries to voice reasonable doubts and plausible suspicions. The boycott is silly. Oh, you didn't know about the boycott? Yeah, I haven't heard a thing about it ANYWHERE but on Drudge and at Dan's site.

I have all the admiration in the world for Beth Twitty. She has been THE example of a woman who wants justice for her child. I still believe that SHE is the reason the media (aka FOX News) will not stop talking about it.

The internet gives EVERYONE the opportunity to pursue justice for their family members. If you don't have any money, and your child is missing, send the information to us here and WE will get the word out.

So, what can YOU do about human trafficking? There are several programs to get involved in. World Vision works at creating income for victims of poverty, giving them skills and hope. Several other organizations also participate in awareness programs, making the world aware that the BIGGEST customer of the illegal sex trade is the US.

That's right, in our country there are professional men buying time with children in brothels in cities such as New York, Newark, Los Angeles, and others, as well as supporting the trade of child pornography, rape and S&M videography, and international travel for sex with children.

In the coming weeks we will be covering more information on what you can do, and on what you can do if you have been a victim of any of these horrible crimes.

We aren't here to sensationalize the crime. We are here to help you heal, o give you a voice, and a hope. Please read more to get the statistics, as published by the US Department of Justice.

MSM should give hat tips.

I know it shouldn't be a big deal. I know that what truly matters is that the bad guy has been caught. I guess I am being petty, but oh well. As many bloggers have noted, the Main Stream Media, (note: evil music should play when you read that line), is not a friend of the bloggers.

So, yesterday I was sitting at my desk, and I saw the first local Amber Alert I had ever seen. Every time I hear that someone is missing these days, it hits home. I think about my own kids, and what I would do if I were to lose them. So, after saying a quick prayer, I hit the web. It didn't take long to find Kara Beth's websites, and I found David Ludwig's not too long afterwards. My blog was not yet active, so I sent the info I had to Steve Huff at the Dark Side blog. He is a great writer and is even on MSNBC with Rita Cosby tonight! He generously linked back to me.

Well tonight CBS is talking about how blogs “give an insight into the kids' lives.” Where is the hat tip?
Also, Dan Riehl, and Lost in Lima both were also very kind with links.

The internet is still a young and growing phenomenon, but it certainly promises to yield clues into the lives of victims and perpetrators alike. Never before have so many had the opportunity to know the most intimate details of the lives of young people in trouble.

When I was learning to write, I was taught that young people will always incorporate themselves into anything that they write, because it is a means to self discovery. With the internet, it is also a chance pretend to be anything they wish they were.

As these teens grow and learn about each other, they provide clues for parents, for law enforcement, and for those who just want to know “Why?”.

Update: Just got to see Steve. Great job!!

Thank God Kara has been found safe. David Ludwig crashed while trying to outrun police. Both were unharmed in the car accident and David has been taken into custody.

The murder and abduction were premeditated, according to police.

Another story with pictures.

Most of what I read at the Lancaster Online News Website was a rehash of information we had already heard. Thanks to the Missing Abducted Blog for the tip on the article. I subscribe to their RSS feeds as they really get the scoop on a great number of missing persons cases.

I can't help but remember when I was a teenager “in love”. I guess that as I have aged, I have seen the same story over and over. The boy and girl are in a forbidden relationship, which just makes the fruit seem that much sweeter. The h
